Helping A Clothing Brand Scale To £234k Per Month in Ad Rev.

This women’s fashion brand had a strong presence but felt like they weren’t getting the most out of their paid ads. They were spending £40K per month, but their revenue from ads was stuck at around the £97K mark. The goal was clear: increase revenue without increasing ad spend and focus on bringing in more new customers rather than relying on existing ones.

By July 2024, I had more than doubled their paid ad revenue to £228K per month, prioritised new customer acquisition & all the while kept spending completely stable.

Meta Ads: More Than Doubling Revenue

In December, Meta Ads were bringing in £27K per month. By July, that number had scaled to £90K, taking the account ROAS from 2.6 to 7.8.

Key Meta Optimisations:

  1. Launching Dynamic Product Ads (DPA): This simple change drove an instant boost in sales.  In March, we were making just under £30K per month, but by April, we had cracked £70K.

  2. Scaling Up “Boosted Posts” in Ads Manager

    • Unlike the typical Instagram “boost” button, I used full ad manager controls for targeting and conversions. What started as a small test became a £100/day campaign due to its high performance.

  3. Switching to Evergreen Campaigns

    • Previously, campaigns were created for every new season or promotion. Instead, we switched to long-term evergreen campaigns, which eliminated learning phase disruptions and made it effective to run quick, high-impact flash sales.

  4. Optimising Every Detail

    • Constant A/B testing (Advantage+ audiences, ad creatives, formats)

    • Fine-tuning budget allocation and adjusting CPA targets
      Experimenting with different ad formats—static images, carousels, video, and Instant Experiences

Google Ads: Scaling Up, Then Focusing on New Customers

Google Ads started off strong, generating £70k per month in December. By April, we had scaled this up to £147k. At that point, we made a strategic decision: scale back on brand search ads and shift more toward new customer acquisition.

Even after this shift, we still maintained £138k per month in revenue, which was £68k higher than when we started—but now with a stronger focus on fresh customers.
 
Key Google Ads Optimisations:

  1. Simplifying the Account for Better Performance

    • We removed unnecessary campaigns, excessive keywords, and redundant ads. Simple scales.

  2. Launching Non-Brand PMax Campaigns

    • Used Google’s latest Performance Max (PMax) campaigns, powered by Klaviyo email lists and first-party data to drive better results.

  3. Adding Demand Gen Campaigns

    • These highly visual campaigns helped reach a brand-new audience. We worked with the client to create stunning creatives that really made an impact.

  4. Fine-Tuning Shopping Campaigns & ROAS Goals

    • Shopping ads got a refresh with better bid adjustments and product feed optimizations.

    • Instead of setting strict budgets, we used Target ROAS bidding to allow Google to spend more when conversions were most efficient.

  5. Reducing Brand Campaign Spend to Attract New Customers

We increased ROAS targets and cut back on brand keyword bids, making sure we weren’t just targeting customers who already knew about Sahara.

Pinterest: A Small Experiment That Paid Off Big

Pinterest was a new platform for Sahara, so we started with just a £1K test budget. Four months later, it was bringing in £6.5K in revenue per month—an insane 6.5 ROAS.

Why This Worked:

  • Pinterest’s highly visual nature was a perfect fit for Sahara’s stylish brand.

  • We targeted an untapped audience—shoppers who weren’t engaging as much on Meta or Google.

  • Hand-picked high-performing creatives made the most of the platform’s unique format.
